Cyclic Behavior of L-Shaped RC Short-Limb Shear Walls with High-Strength Rebar and High-Strength Concrete

Six RC short-limb shear walls with an L-shaped section, constructed high-strength rebar and concrete, were loaded to destruction pseudo-static loading. Experimental results discussed compared horizontal in detail. Different failure modes obtained, such as flexure-dominated for specimens aspect ratio of 2.8 2.15 bending-shear 1.75. With a decrease the ratio, ductility decreased, whereas increase axial compression load-carrying capacity increased but decreased accordingly. An obvious pinching effect was found smaller higher ratio. Using longitudinal concrete can obviously improve lateral walls; using ultimate deformation capacity. The average drift ratios HPLW LW far exceeded specification requirements Chinese GB50011-2010 code.
